It's that time again... Baseball Season!! Time to shed the winter coats for light weight jackets. Break out the sunglasses and ball caps cause it's SPRING !!!! Austin is playing with the Cincinnati Flames again this year but this year he's playing with his age group. For the past 4 years he's played "up" with older boys. So, same organization, just new team. He knows the boys because they would use him to pitch last year for some tournaments.
They opened their season last weekend in Greenfield Indiana at the Bandits Early Bird Tournament. The Flames came in 2nd place loosing a close one to the Indiana Prospects. Austin was 7 for 10 in the tournament. Although he pitches and plays short stop he's played some catcher over the years and this year he's giving it a serious go. He seems to really like it.
Speaking of catching, I caught a ball right in the lens of my camera at the tournament. I was up about 20 feet in the air, behind the backstop in some scorers box- getting some great shots too, when a foul ball came and nailed the camera dead on, breaking the lens right off. Fortunately my face wasn't against the camera at the time or I could have been seriously hurt. So the camera's toast, but Bart's going to take it to see if it can be repaired. I feel so lost with out it !!!
So, I'll be using our DVD camera until then. I usually only use that for video, not still shots but I'll have to learn quick how to use it.
Amber was thrilled to get to see an old friend (Jessica Gamble) while we were in Indiana. Some friends of ours had moved only a few miles down the road and came to watch Austin play. Austin played some select basketball with their son Nick. They're such a neat family. Wish I had some pictures to show you but unfortunately they came AFTER the camera was hit.
